Light of a surge in COVID19 cases,theBombay HC on Wednesday,April14,dismissed Juma Masjid Trust Plea

A bench carrying Justices R.D. Dhanuka and V.G. Bisht heard a petition by the Mosque trust which mentioned that devotees should be allowed inside the place of worship “in execution of right to freedom of religion”. The also trust said that the mosque could accommodate almost 7,000 people at a time but asked plea that in the situation of the health crisis, only 50 people will be allowed inside to offer namaz or prayers during the holy Ramzan.



Taking into note the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country and state, and the Maharashtra government’s April 13 lockdown circular, the bench denied permission to the mosque or any other places of worship for holding prayers.



Till May 1, 2021, The places of worships Should be strictly closed as directed by the Government.
